The 2010 Honda Insight Preview night at University Honda was a full success. Customers and longtime friends of the dealership came out for a night of food, wines and of course; The 2010 Honda Insight. With its fully redesigned body and increased cargo and passenger capacity, the newest Honda Insight has drawn a lot of attention in the hybrid and environmentally conscience consumer markets. Although the standard EPA rating of the Insight’s fuel economy says 41 mpg (combined), University Honda held a mileage competition that night to see who could drive the most efficient. The winning driver won dinner for 2 at a local restaurant with a mileage score of 55.1 mpg. So, how is this possible?

When a driver sits in the Insight, they can select an “economy button” to the left of the steering column. This changes the performance of the vehicle, offering LIVE increased fuel economy drive ratings. As the driver accelerates and brakes, the Insight technology scores the fuel economy rating on the electronic dash. When a driver performs at optimum efficiency, they are awarded “eco points” in the shape of green leaves. As the driver completes their destination, a mileage report summary is communicated on the dash. Most of the University Honda test drivers completed their course with a mileage rating of 52.3 mpg to 55.1 mpg. However, the one customer who made no attempt to follow the Insight’s eco instructions, thereby hunting for the worst fuel efficiency rating, finished at 30.4 mpg.

This interactive feature on University Honda’s new 2010 Honda Insight essentially “trains” the driver to handle the vehicle with optimum driving efficiency. This is simply another example of Honda, the originators of Hybrid thinking, taking technology and consumer preference to the next level. We invite you to schedule a full demonstration of the new 2010 Honda Insight at University Honda today!
