Family Enjoys Insight Savings

When we did the math, the right choice was easy…it was a “no brainer!” My husband recently leased a 2010 Honda Insight using the ‘0 down payment/0 security deposit/0 first-month payment/0 due at leasing’ program through University Honda. It’s been A REALLY BIG THING!

We had been driving a 2000 Volvo S40. Granted it was a nice car, we were spending a small fortune in gas; and because it was a higher mileage vehicle, cost of repairs were steadily rising. We sat down one night to contemplate the idea of leasing. When we did the mathematical calculations, we were astonished at the savings we’d receive by leasing an Insight! For example, our Volvo was averaging 25 mpg and the Honda Insight averages 45.8 mpg. We live 40 miles from our jobs…so our Volvo drank 3 gallons of gas each day; the Insight would consume only 1.4 gallons each day.

Our ‘00 Volvo was also high in mileage, demanding repair and maintenance costs averaging $90 a month. In addition to that, the cash value of our Volvo was falling each month, (appox $100-$150 a month). Needless to say, our decision to lease a 2010 Honda Insight was a no brainer. We now save $100 or more in gas each month. There are no repairs to make on the new car because it’s under a 3 year warranty, and the little maintenance that is required while driving an Insight is reasonably low cost.

Our decision to get rid of our old Volvo and lease a new Insight was a great and responsible decision. We love our Insight, we’ve named it Blue Child. We’ve taken it all over Oregon in the last 3 weeks; these are a few pictures to prove it. It’s a pleasure to drive, very fun and sporty, handles like a dream, and makes us feel like we are doing something worth while for the world by using less gas. Our Insight makes us feel good about life…we look forward to many, many adventures! So…bring on that horizon…and stop by University Honda. The lease program is designed to be consumer friendly. At the end of the three years we have choices…we can trade it in, or drop it off, or re-finance the remaining value of the vehicle, Because all Honda vehicles hold their value, we will never again be up-side- down in payments!
